The goal of the North Shore Neighbourhood House Youth Services is to provide youth outreach services to our community through our various neighbourhood locations and through partnership with other community service providers. We believe youth are valued members of our community; we work to support young people in a variety of ways.

Youth Support
Youth Outreach Workers
If you are in need of our services, please fill out our referral form. Our youth outreach workers are trained to provide support, guidance and referrals in a non-judgmental way. Our goal is to make you feel safe, supported and respected
Our outreach workers can help you with:
- One-to-one support, temporary or ongoing
- Drug and alcohol education
- School problems
- Family issues
- Job and resume skills
- Providing advocacy and information
- Referrals to other services
- And lots more!
Special Needs Teen Club
Teen Club is a licensed Out of School care Program for special needs teenagers aged 13 to 18 that focuses on social and life skill development through exposure to a wide variety of leisure activities.
The teens attending the program are referred by Community Living British Columbia. They have a wide variety of challenges: Autism, Down Syndrome, William’s Syndrome, general developmental delays, hearing and visual impairments, psychiatric disorders and learning disabilities. Staff work with social workers, school staff, psychologists/psychiatrists, neurologists, behaviour therapists and families to provide a safe, supportive and nurturing environment.
Teen Club provides high quality programming that includes a balance of in-house and community based activities; these include sports, drama and music programs, game days and outings to locations in the community. For more information contact Teen Club Supervisor at 604.987.8138 ext 218.
Activities
The NSNH offers a wide variety of programs for Pre-Teens and Youth ages 10-24 years. The best way to find out what is being offered is to connect with any of the 5 Yuth Outreach Workers (see Contact Us page) or visit one of our sites:
- Youth Centre Programs at JBCC
- Lonsdale Youth Lounge (LYL)
- Harry Jerome
- Pre-Teen drop in a Lynn Valley Recreation Centre (LVL)
The youth outreach workers also visit your schools.
Throughout the year seasonal out-trips will be offered. Please contact us to find out what trips are happening.
NSNH Youth Services are involved in City Fest – if you are 10-24 years of age and want to get involved give us a call and we will help you know when the meetings occur.
Young Parents Program
Being a young parent comes with unique challenges and responsibilities.
The House administers the Pregnant and Parenting Teen Program (for youth ages 13-24 years) on the North Shore. Our program provides:
- One-to-one support with our Family Support Worker
- A regular group drop-in
- Parenting classes
- Out-trips
- Ongoing advocacy and support
We are partnered with the North Vancouver School District to help young parents complete their Grade 12.
