Under 5 Childcare Program
Hello and welcome to the North Shore Neighbourhood House Childcare Program!
The North Shore Neighbourhood House has been meeting the child care needs of the community since 1939 and is currently the largest provider of childcare on the North Shore.
Our childcare programs are committed to nurturing and guiding young children. We provide an environment that fosters trust, security and comfort. We strive to offer a balance of activities that help children progress in social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
Our programs respect and value differences, recognizing that children are individuals and that every child is unique.
Our sites provide a safe, secure and stimulating environment for all children. We provide time and opportunities for children to explore and investigate their world and to communicate with other children and adults. The environment fosters an accepting, tolerant and flexible attitude towards others and respect for the natural world.
All our childcare programs are licensed by the Ministry of Children and Family Services. Ministry subsidies are applicable.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long can I expect to wait for an offer of childcare space?
- Generally, most spaces become available in August when some children leave our programs to attend Kindergarten. It is very difficult to predict when a space will become available.
- NSNH cannot guarantee space at any of our childcares. We strongly recommend that you apply to other programs as well as ours.

Can I tour a childcare centre before I accept a space?
We do not offer tours of our childcare sites. However, We are able to share photos of each of our Under 5 daycares. Please click this link to view photos
Is there a waitlist application fee?
No
I no longer want to be on the waitlist. Can I give my spot to someone else?
No. Each child must have their own application. There are no substitutes for friends, relatives, or siblings
